DMV Master ("DMV Master," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website at dmvmaster.org or use our mobile applications (collectively, the "Services"), how we use that information, and the choices and rights you have.
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, local storage, and similar technologies to operate our website, remember your preferences, measure usage, and improve the Services. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect functionality.
2.4 Subscription and Purchase Data
Our mobile application is a freemium service — most features are free, and certain premium features require a paid subscription. We do not collect or store your credit card, debit card, or other payment information. All payments for in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) for iOS or Google (Google Play) for Android, in accordance with their respective terms and privacy policies.
In connection with subscriptions, we do receive and store limited information from Apple or Google, including:
- Your subscription or entitlement status (active, expired, or cancelled)
- The product identifier of the subscription purchased (e.g., "monthly_pro")
- The original purchase date and renewal date
- A transaction identifier so that your device can verify your entitlement
- Country or region of purchase (for tax and pricing purposes)
We use this information solely to (a) unlock premium features for you, (b) verify that you are an active subscriber, (c) provide customer support, and (d) comply with tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our Services
- Show you content relevant to your state (e.g., California-specific questions when you visit from California)
- Respond to your questions, requests, and feedback
- Analyze usage patterns and measure the performance of our content and features
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or misuse
- Comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Service
- Send you administrative communications (e.g., service updates, password resets)
- With your consent, send you marketing communications you can opt out of at any time
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate our Services, including:
- Hosting and infrastructure — Vercel (web hosting), Supabase (database and file storage)
- Analytics — analytics providers that help us understand site and app usage (e.g., privacy-preserving analytics platforms)
- App distribution and payment processing — Apple App Store (for iOS) and Google Play Store (for Android). These providers handle all subscription billing, auto-renewal, refund processing, and payment authentication. Their privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy respectively.
- Communications — email delivery services for transactional emails
These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide services on our behalf and are required to protect it.
4.2 Legal Compliance and Protection
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required or permitted by law, such as to respond to a subpoena, court order, or government request; to protect our rights, property, or safety; to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others; or to investigate fraud or security issues.
4.3 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our assets, information about our users may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice of any such change.
5. Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for users 13 years of age and older. Many of our users are teenagers preparing for a learner's permit or driver's license, and we take the privacy of minors seriously.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
- If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at pass@dmvmaster.org and we will delete it promptly
- For users aged 13–17, we encourage parents or guardians to review this Privacy Policy together and supervise their teen's use of the Services
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access, Correction, and Deletion
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent where we rely on consent as the legal basis
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at pass@dmvmaster.org. We will respond within 30 days.
6.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, disclose, or sell; request deletion of your personal information; opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information); and not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
6.3 European Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your information is: (a) performance of a contract when we provide our Services to you; (b) your consent where we ask for it; (c) compliance with a legal obligation; or (d) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, where not overridden by your rights.
6.4 Opting Out of Marketing
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any such email or by contacting us directly. You will continue to receive transactional messages related to your account and the Services.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes such as complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify the information.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Examples include encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your home country.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, apps, or services (for example, official state DMV websites referenced in our content). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
11. Do Not Track
Our Services do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, because no uniform standard has emerged for interpreting them. We continue to monitor developments in this area.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as by email (if we have your email address) or a prominent notice on the site.
